It seems like I see the term lifehack everywhere these days. For anyone who’s been living on the moon or maybe just recently acquired an internet connection (Grandma) a lifehack is defined by the online Oxford Dictionary as:
A strategy or technique adopted in order to manage one’s time and daily activities in a more efficient way.
Sounds good to me – I’m always on the lookout for ways to make things easier, especially relating to some of the more mundane aspects of daily life. Often after reading about some so-called ‘lifehacks’ though, I’m left feeling like the solution just isn’t for me for one reason or another – maybe they are so simple I think “duh” or maybe they make things more complicated than necessary.
All that being said, I’m hesitant to be just another person throwing a lifehack out onto the interwebs, but oh well…that’s never stopped me before. Continue reading
Located in the Columbia River Gorge and just a short drive from Portland is the must-see Multnomah Falls. At over 600 feet tall, this magnificent waterfall is breathtaking and is the second highest year-round waterfall in the US. It was even featured in a scene from the Twilight movie and according to Native American lore, the falls were created to win the heart of a young princess who wanted a hidden place to bathe. We spent a few days in DC so that Adam could sing for a friend’s wedding. Having both been to DC before, we skipped most of things we’d already seen as first time tourists and mostly just walked around and ate a lot.
Where we stayed: The District Hotel
This was a great bargain for sure and was thoughtfully paid for by the bride and groom, but I wouldn’t stay here again for sure. It was old, but adequate and had some of the worst (yet quite hilarious) Yelp reviews I’ve ever seen. I was actually a bit disappointed when the hotel clerk was merely disinterested and preoccupied rather than downright rude like I’d been expecting based on the reviews. Continue reading
I’ve just returned from a short trip with my step-son Ethan to one of my favorite towns – Ithaca, NY. I’m lucky that it takes me less than an hour to get there, so I try to frequent as often as possible.
Of course, in the summer there are any number of reasons to visit Ithaca, but the winter weather can be unpredictable and it most definitely was this weekend. Continue reading
