GET OUTDOORS – EXPLORING THE FOREST PARK WITCHES HOUSE

We visited the ‘Witches House’ in Forest Park last October and I’m looking forward to exploring more of this huge park throughout the different seasons of the year.

Forest Park is a wooded public park just west of downtown and is one of the largest urban parks in the country. There are more than 60 miles of trails for walking and hiking.

We parked in the lot near the Audubon Society and followed the Wildwood Trail.  It was a pleasant 15-20 minute walk through the woods.

The area we visited is known as the ‘Witches House’.  The house is actually an old abandoned stone ranger station, but there are tales and rumors of it being haunted.

Stories of forbidden love, revenge, murder, and ghosts – but we found it to be rather lovely during the day and I can imagine having a picnic there.

In the evening, however, I’ll admit that this might be slightly spooky – I’m told that an episode of Grimm was shot there.

We will most definitely be returning to Forest Park this spring and checking out more of this massive wooded park.
